Since I'll be home, I will be preparing a lot more food. I am completely enthused about this. One of the biggest flaws in my marriage is how often we eat out, or how often we rely on frozen pizza. Don't get me wrong, I love to eat out! And I looooove me some frozen pizza (shout out to Aldi's Momma Cozzi Pizzas--seriously, they're the best--better to us than delivery)! It's not the healthiest (or cheapest) lifestyle.
So this is where I need your input. The Husband has tried many a crash diet (or, you know, the whole "I'm never eating carbs again" thing and instead relies completely on cheese and hot dogs--uh, hello heart attack?) I am basically clueless when it comes to what to eat and how to prepare it so it's not soaked in butter.
What are some of your favorite clean recipes?
Where did you educate yourself on what to eat?
Do you have a favorite iPhone app for meal prepping?
The Husband will basically eat anything I put in front of him (except cucumbers, tomatoes and cauliflower.) And as the one staying home, I'd like to take responsibility for what we're eating. I'll no longer have the "we eat like crap because I have no time" excuse.
Tell me! I want to know!

Pinterest has been great for me for finding healthy recipes! Kelly at Eat Yourself Skinny has good ones too!
ReplyDeleteI agree with above. Pinterest is my main man!! Right now I have to eat very low salt because of my hbp and Pinterest has been saving my life with healthy recipes! My go to meal when I need something real quick, instead of delicious frozen pizza is a healthy wrap with veggies and some balsamic vinegar for flavor!
ReplyDeleteI was just telling Josh last night that I'm actually excited to go back on Weight Watchers after I have this baby - for this very reason! Lots of great recipes and advice on getting enough of the right kinds of food. I ate better when I was on Weight Watchers than I ever did in the past. The combination of paying attention to and tracking what I ate, planning my meals, and cooking for myself was so easy with the WW resources. There are lots of WW blogs with recipes and meal ideas - the focus isn't necessarily on losing weight, but on being healthy and eating good, whole foods.
ReplyDeletePinterest is my go to for recipes (healthy and not so healthy) But just try to replicate your favorite foods that you normally eat out at home. Anything prepared freshly at home is going to be healthier than store bought or restaurant food. If pizzas a favorite, make your own! Steven and I are eating completely yeast free right now (so no pizza!! AHH!), but before I used to make homemade pizza and it was delish! (And a fun date night to make it together)
ReplyDeleteI attached the link. It will lead you to the recipe I use to make our own pizza dough. And then just top it with your favorite toppings :)

WWW.marksdailyapple.com has been a great source to educate ourselves on health and nutrition. One of our favorite meals is Philly cheese steak stuffed peppers and mashed cauliflower. It's so good I bet he would like it.
